Projects Update Q1 2021

Project leads nearly doubled last year

The Quad Cities Chamber works with a variety of companies on relocating to or expanding in the region. Find information below on the business attraction and expansion projects the team worked on in the first quarter of 2021 as well as some highlights of recent successes.

Successful Projects

divvyDOSE

divvyDOSE expanded to downtown Davenport, added 200-300 jobs

  • Experiencing rapid growth of its direct-to-consumer medication delivery service, Quad Cities-based pharmacy startup divvyDOSE expanded its footprint and economic impact in the bi-state region. After being acquired by UnitedHealth Group last fall, the healthcare tech company headquartered in Moline added 200-300 jobs (enrollment, insurance and customer service) and moved its front-end operations to two floors of Mississippi Plaza in downtown Davenport.
  • Quad Cities Chamber staff, in partnership with the City of Davenport, worked with divvyDOSE’s site selector and the owner of Mississippi Plaza to identify and secure Class A office space for the company’s expansion.

Service Steel

As ag economy remained strong, Service Steel eyed continued growth

  • Capital investment $2.5 million
  • Increased customer demand, an improved supply chain as well as a significant capital investment have Service Steel poised for growth, marking another successful business expansion project in the region during the pandemic. Service Steel’s addition of a second multimillion-dollar laser tube cutter enabled this union shop to meet the growing demand of customers, including the likes of Deere & Co.
  • When COVID-19 struck last year, the Quad Cities Chamber stepped up its outreach to connect area companies like Service Steel to a variety of resources to help protect the health of their operations. Specifically, Chamber staff referred Service Steel to the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC) for assistance on implementing new sanitation and decontamination services inside its sprawling warehouse. As a result of that connection, Service Steel has continued to work with IMEC on other services to improve its operations.

Project Stats

There are a total of 71 projects to date for FY21 compared to 40 for the same time last year.
