One of the most pressing items we are advocating for is the Unemployment Trust Fund deficit in Illinois to be replenished using ARPA funds. Without action on this item, businesses will see increased taxes and people seeking unemployment benefits will have their benefit period and the dollar amount reduced. COVID-19 has impacted many Illinois businesses with induced layoffs and terminations and ongoing staffing challenges. Many companies have experienced these obstacles and will face more significant challenges if not addressed.

As your Chamber, we are the voice for your business. But, our voices will never be as compelling as the business owner with a story to tell. Over the next two weeks, we will be ramping up our call to replenish the Unemployment Trust Fund deficit with ARPA funds. We need your help to lift this item to the level of urgency the matter deserves.

We want to share business owners' and leaders' concerns about the impact of inaction by the Illinois General Assembly if it does not address the Unemployment Trust deficit using the ARPA funds. The Quad Cities Chamber with Illinois Chambers All-In will feature participating businesses in a letter issued by the coalition and on our social media. We want to share your stories of how the COVID-19 induced layoffs and terminations affected your operations.

We want to make your voice, concerns and story heard. Share your story by filling out this brief form.

We must help elected officials understand how your business and workforce have been or will be impacted by a growing deficit in the trust fund.
