Prepare for the Iowa municipal elections on November 4
The Quad Cities Chamber is proud to support civic engagement among our members, especially during election season. As part of our commitment to informed participation, we distributed a candidate questionnaire to all individuals running for office in the Bettendorf and Davenport City elections.
While the Chamber does not endorse any candidate, we encourage members of the business community to thoughtfully review the responses to better understand where candidates stand on issues that matter to our region. These insights can serve as a valuable resource when casting your vote this November.
The survey was carefully crafted to reflect key concerns of the local business community. Questions were reviewed by our Business Advocacy Council—an advisory group of nearly 20 business leaders representing a diverse range of industries across the Quad Cities.
Questions include:
- Why should a business leader vote for you?
- How would you work to maintain and improve the competitiveness of property tax rates?
- How will you support current and future economic development in the Quad Cities region?
- How will you approach proposals for new regulations that come across your desk?
Additionally, we asked those running for office in Bettendorf to share their thoughts on the proposed police station, which can only be approved by achieving 60% approval on November 4. Voters will be asked to vote ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to approve the bond for up to $27 million to relocate and expand the police station, something the City says is desperately needed based on current capacity at the existing station.
We requested participation in our survey from the candidates vying for the following seats:
Bettendorf: Council At-Large, Council Ward 2, Council Ward 4; Police Station Referendum
Davenport: Mayor, Alderman At-Large, Alderman Wards 1 through 8.
