PCT Ebeam and Integration expansion groundbreaking

PCT Ebeam and Integration, an electron-beam technology company with international reach, is expanding its operations in the Quad Cities by doubling the size of their existing 30,000-square-foot facility and adding jobs. Located at 8700 Hillandale Ave. in Davenport, PCT Ebeam & Integration is a manufacturer of innovative industrial electron beam systems and manufacturing systems applications and processes.

The expansion project will yield a total annual economic impact of over $4.2 million, positively impacting the Quad Cities regional economy.

In May 2022, PCT Ebeam, asked for the Chamber’s assistance in identifying resources to facilitate an expansion project at their Davenport location. The Chamber connected PCT Ebeam with the Iowa Economic Development Authority's High Quality Jobs Incentive Program and other resources to facilitate the expansion.

Company President Karl Swanson said their work is positively impacting the manufacturing industry, and they’re expecting to continue expanding their footprint in the future.

“The essence of manufacturing is adding value to raw materials by applying labor and ideas. The equipment and services we provide enable other manufacturers to also produce products that benefit society,” said Swanson. “I expect PCT to continue to grow through expansion into new applications for our electron beam systems, increasing the number of customers for our integration services, and introducing new products.”

As global demand for PCT’s products increases, the additional space will allow them to expand their fabrication and assembly capacity. When the expansion is completed in the summer of 2023, the facility will be morphed into a 60,000-square-foot-facility capable of undertaking larger-scale operations.

The company was originally founded in Davenport in 1986 and reformed under current ownership in 2018. Privately owned and locally managed, PCT Ebeam and Integration’s electron beam technology is used in consumer packaging, industrial packaging/coating and architectural coating.

Through this project, PCT Ebeam is investing mightily in the Quad Cities, the place that the company has called home for decades. Swanson said, “The original founders were working at Alcoa (Arconic) Davenport Works. This was ‘home’ for them and where they wanted to grow their business. This idea still rings true for us today.”

The Chamber is proud to have supported PCT Ebeam on this groundbreaking project, and is prepared to continue providing resources, connections and information to businesses throughout our region.
