At the Quad Cities Chamber, small businesses aren’t just members — they’re the heartbeat of our community. From creating jobs to building character in the QC, local entrepreneurs shape the places we live, work and shop.

We asked several Chamber members why their membership matters and what they love most about the Chamber.

Owning one successful retail business is a feat — but growing several into thriving, popular shopping destinations shows true entrepreneurial spirit. Chamber member Alyson Weir, multi-franchise owner and accredited investor in local resale businesses including Style Encore, said the Chamber has helped her connect with and support other small businesses through creating cross-promotional opportunities.

“I think it’s important to network with other small businesses in our community, participate in Chamber activities and meet other business owners facing similar challenges,” she said.

“I’ve recently connected with Chamber member Marcia Erickson for her Action Coaching to help make me a better owner and leader – and to build awareness for our Style Encore store.”  She added that the Chamber has been “supportive, willing to listen and more engaged with small businesses than in years past.”

Erlinda Hernandez, co-owner of Velasquez Pro Roofing, LLC, agrees that the Chamber provides a way to connect with other businesses. “Being a Chamber member has helped us in many ways. We’re getting to know other owners, learning about other businesses and getting leads for our own business,” she said.

This family-owned roofing company specializes in residential, commercial and flat roofing projects. It is dedicated to delivering superior roofing solutions that focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

“To us at Velasquez, the event that means the most to us as a small business is Hob Nosh for the networking opportunities. The Chamber has been very welcoming and helpful. Being part of the Chamber has been great for us.”

Another local business that has used the Chamber to grow and develop is Rock Island Dental Associates, owned by Dr. Ann McIntyre and Dr. Thais Meredith. The new dental office aims to give patients a professional and experienced team that realizes that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work for every patient. The doctors have advanced training in many areas of dentistry, including dental implants and Invisalign. They provide state-of-the-art technology to ensure patients are getting the best treatment possible. Currently, they are accepting new patients.

"The Chamber is a vital resource for small businesses to connect and network with businesses large and small," said Dr. McIntrye. "It helps by offering support to new businesses like ours, and keeps members abreast of new economic trends and opportunities." She added that the Chamber has helped her small business grow and develop in a way that's targeted and effective on a regional level. "Supporting and connecting local businesses and advocating for economic growth helps build a stronger and more vibrant community," she said.

Different businesses. Different industries. Different stories. But one common theme: Chamber membership brings real value. From retail to roofing to healthcare, these owners agree — the Chamber helps their businesses grow, connect and be seen.

Small business support is at the heart of what we do, and there’s a place here for you, too. If you’re ready to take your business to the next level, the Quad Cities Chamber is here to help.
