2025 Iowa municipal elections recap
The Quad Cities Chamber congratulates all newly elected and re-elected officials following the November 2025 Iowa municipal elections. We commend every candidate who stepped forward to serve their community and thank voters for participating in this important democratic process.
Election Outcomes (All results unofficial as of 11/5/2025)
Davenport – 2-Year Terms
- Jason Gordon was elected Mayor with 6,524 votes to Judith Lee’s 5,771. Gordon will succeed current Mayor Mike Matson, who did not seek re-election.
- Jazmin Newton and Kyle Gripp were re-elected to their At-Large Alderman positions with 7,507 votes and 6,967 votes, respectively. Challengers Dewayne Simons and Don Hesseltine III received 2,250 and 2,135 votes, respectively.
- Paul Vasquez won the race for Ward 3 Alderman with 442 votes to Jim Contois’s 363 votes. Vasquez will succeed Marion Meginnis, who did not seek re-election.
- John Blunk won the race for Ward 5 Alderman with 1,109 votes to Tim Kelly’s 766 votes. Blunk will succeed Kelly as 5th Ward Alderman.
- Ben Jobgen won re-election to his 6th Ward seat with 1,624 votes to Elizabeth Zaharopoulos’s 891 votes.
- Mark Holloway Sr. leads the race for Ward 7 Alderman by a vote count of 726-720 over Chris Jerome in a race that will undergo a recount next week. We look forward to working with whoever wins after the process concludes.
- Matt Lienen won the uncontested race for the Ward 8 Alderman seat. Lienen will succeed Paul Reinartz, who did not seek re-election.
- Rick Dunn, Tim Dunn and Jade Burkholder each won their uncontested re-election bids. We look forward to continuing our partnership with each of them for another term.
Bettendorf – 4-Year Terms & Police Referendum
The Police Station Referendum allowing Bettendorf to issue bonds to build a new $27 million police station, passed with 73.7% voting in the affirmative, well over the necessary 60%. 5,474 voted in favor while 1,958 voted against the measure.
- Lisa Brown won her uncontested re-election bid for Council Member At-Large. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Lisa for another term.
- Scott Naumann won the race for Ward 4 Council Member with 1,196 votes to Afzal Erik Abdullah’s 666 votes. Naumann previously served as Ward 2 Council Member for 16 years.
- Conor Flaherty won the race for Ward 2 Council Member with 742 votes to Max Pikulskiy’s 319 votes.
Looking Ahead
As newly elected leaders begin their terms, the Chamber looks forward to continuing our advocacy and collaboration. We will engage with city officials to ensure the voice of the business community is heard and reflected in policy decisions.
