Miller Meeks visit to Oertel

Mariannette Miller-Meeks, U.S. Congresswoman from Iowa, visited Oertel Metal Works (a McCarthy-Bush Company), Davenport, this week. During the visit, leadership from the company joined the Congresswoman for a tour, highlighting the innovative work and investment by the company in recent years, and to discuss the positive impact of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBA) passed earlier this year.

The Chamber advocated aggressively for passage of key business provisions in the OBBA, including permanent extension of bonus depreciation and new qualified production property (QPP) depreciation. The new QPP provision allows businesses to accelerate depreciation on new property and real estate placed into active use.

“Creating opportunities for business and government leaders to connect is core to what we do,” said Ryan Sempf, Executive Director of Government Affairs. “These engagements provide the opportunity for policymakers to hear directly from our business community and understand how D.C. discourse impacts our region," he said.

Oertel Metal Works was named the Chamber’s Business of the Year in 2024.
