Goal setting and policy priorities were the emphasis at this year’s Iowa Chamber Alliance’s (ICA) Annual Retreat held in Iowa City. QC Chamber President and CEO, Peter Tokar III attended along with Ryan Sempf, Executive Director, Government Affairs.

The Retreat is an annual event that allows the Alliance — a coalition of 16 of the largest Chambers across Iowa, including the QC Chamber — to come together to collaborate and elevate local priorities for discussion at the 2026 Legislative Session. It will also help inform the QC Chamber’s annual legislative priorities. “The coalition of Chambers discuss policy initiatives in economic development, workforce development, attraction, retention and other key policy topics impacting the business community,” said Tokar. "This event encourages statewide cooperation among partner Chambers."

"The ICA also conducts an important talent poll that helps to identify perception and sentiment of working-age Iowans every two years," added Sempf. "This poll will be conducted again later this year to help inform legislators as they make decisions on public policy."

The Chamber will announce its 2026 Legislative Agenda later this fall, with the Iowa Legislative Session beginning in January.
