Dav State of City

Davenport Mayor Jason Gordon delivered his inaugural State of the City address on Thursday, June 11, titled “A New Day,” emphasizing the importance of neighborhood investment, organizational stability and community connection.

The address highlighted efforts to strengthen infrastructure and core services that support both business and quality of life. It also underscored economic development, continued growth and the importance of building strong and safe neighborhoods as key foundations for the City’s future.

Below are a few of the projects that were highlighted:

  • The City’s DREAM Project recently completed its 287th housing rehabilitation project. Round 8 applications will open in July and will include an expanded list of eligible neighborhood zones.
  • The collaborative efforts between public, private and nonprofit groups in developing a regional approach to ending homelessness, in alignment with the steps outlined in a report from Clutch Consulting, and optimism for next steps.
  • The continued progress on the Duck Creek Sewer Interceptor Project, which will provide new service to 10,000 acres of developable land in northwest Davenport.
  • Work continues to improve downtown navigation, pedestrian safety and business access, with the 4th Street resurfacing and two-way conversion project expected to be completed later this year.
  • The Main Street Landing project remains on track for completion by the end of 2026.

Local legislative priorities for the Quad Cities Chamber align with many of those outlined in the address. We are optimistic about Davenport's direction and look forward to continuing to work with the city to advance our shared priorities.
