Moline State of the City address

On Monday, Feb. 26, Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati presented the 2024 State of the City address. In the address, Mayor Rayapati spoke on the importance of having a balanced approach to governing that would ensure a bright future for the city.

“The City’s commitment to maintaining a low property tax rate and remaining attractive to business investment is a step in the right direction,” said Ryan Sempf, Executive Director for Government Affairs. “Moline has adopted their lowest levy rate in 34 years - demonstrating that they want to be a place for business to thrive and invest.”

The Chamber has a goal of creating and sustaining small business grants in all local governments within the Quad Cities. The success of Moline’s recent grant program shows the potential and need for these types of programs and we look forward to ensuring continued funding in next year's budget cycle.

Moline has also made major investments in the acquisition of the former I-74 site and is in a planning process to turn that space into a place where the community can gather and enjoy the riverfront. These types of investments are key to attracting and retaining talent in our region. Similarly, the investments the City has made, and will continue to make in housing will ensure those new and continued residents have options for places live and thrive in the Quad Cities.

The state of the City of Moline is strong and we’re excited for what this year has in store.
