Bettendorf Mayor Bob Gallagher delivered the State of the City address on Wednesday, February 26. Mayor Gallagher’s address highlighted several accomplishments and policy goals which align with the Chamber’s Legislative Agenda.

Taxes & Incentives

Gallagher’s comments reflected Bettendorf’s goal of being a financially sound city, showcasing the City’s 93% resident satisfaction rate for public services while also maintaining a business-friendly tax environment. We applaud Bettendorf’s financial creativity to minimize the burden on the business community in a time of high inflation and need for rapid expansion of services.

Housing & Infrastructure

Mayor Gallagher also spoke on the growth and development the City has experienced, especially in the last few years. In 2024, Bettendorf built an additional 326 units of housing, bringing new single-family houses and apartments into the mix. Additionally, Bettendorf is laying the groundwork for further development to accommodate its population projection of over 50,000 residents by 2045.

We are pleased with Bettendorf’s progress on housing and infrastructure development, and we hope to see this continue in 2025 and beyond.

Workforce & Amenities

One of Bettendorf’s greatest successes has been the creation and development of amenities designed to make Bettendorf a community of choice for young professionals deciding where to live, work and play. The development around the TBK Complex has taken off, bringing nearly 8 million visitors to the Quad Cities region, with many coming from out of state and most staying at least one night, according to the Mayor’s address.

Mayor Gallagher also showcased the ice rink and waterpark at The Landing, public library programming, the record-setting year at Palmer Hills Golf Course and various attractions geared toward young children. In addition to these wins, Bettendorf soon plans to announce a major mixed-use entertainment district in its downtown, providing a valuable riverfront amenity for residents and visitors to enjoy.

"The Chamber is pleased with the investments Bettendorf has made in amenities and eager to see what comes next," said Ryan Sempf, Executive Director of Government Affairs for the Chamber.
