Bridge construction, washing causes traffic changes

Transportation officials have announced two traffic updates that will impact drivers in the Quad Cities.  Be on the lookout for these changes:

• Mississippi Boulevard in Bettendorf will have lane closures from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3, as contractors continue to work on the overhead I-74 structures.
• Interstate 80 Bridge washing will begin, weather-permitting, on Tuesday, Sept. 7 and last for about two weeks. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) District 2 announced that Interstate Maintenance Inc., of Charleston, was awarded the $185,114 contract. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction during the nighttime work.  All lanes will be open during the daytime. To avoid the work area, when feasible, consider an alternate route. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment. To view area construction details, in IDOT's District 2, view IDOT's traveler information map.
