Ambassadors are highly-visible advocates for the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce and often serve as the first point of contact for members celebrating their business success through ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings. These Quad Citizens are an extension of Chamber staff who serve as a valuable point of contact within the business community and are available to members as a resource and to help you make connections.
The Ambassador spotlight series is a chance to get to know these outstanding Quad Citizens better.
Dan Schimanski, True Mortgage Lending
Tell us about your role at your company and how long you've been a Chamber Ambassador?
My position is Team Leader / Senior Loan Originator with TRUE Mortgage Lending, a Division of Flanagan State Bank. I have been a Chamber Ambassador for about a year and a half.
What do you love about being a Chamber ambassador?
What I enjoy about being a Chamber Ambassador is it has allowed me to meet other like minded and energetic individuals who love where they live and enjoy spreading heartfelt accomplishments by being part of ribbon cuttings and new businesses celebrations to fellow family, friends or co-workers. Truly an honor to be part of such an amazing group of people.
Do you have a favorite experience or memory from your time volunteering with the Chamber?
Honestly can say that every event has been equally rewarding. The joy and interaction that the group has is so satisfying to be part of. But if had to throw an event out, it would be Opening Night of the Storm Hockey Season.
Which band/artist - dead or alive would you want to play at your next birthday party?
The options are so many, however I would go with Maroon 5, as they would definitely pack the house and fun would be had by all.
If you had to eat at one restaurant in the Quad Cities every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
So many good options we have in the QCA, to choose one isn't fair, however, Thunder Bay Grille would be at the top of the list.
Say you’re independently wealthy and don’t have to work, what would you do with your time?
Not to sound cliché, however, I would continue to do everything I currently do. As money is important in daily life, it shouldn't change who you are and what you want to do in life. Do what you love, and you'll never work a day of your life.
What would we find your doing when you’re not on Ambassador duty?
Outside of the Chamber Ambassador duty, I enjoy my family time, traveling, and staying physically active.
Do you have any advice for someone who is considering becoming a Chamber member?
The benefits to becoming a Quad Cities Chamber member are so many to list, the resources and information provided are current and powerful when used efficiently. You will definitely get out of it what you put into it.
