With the presence of a major military installation right in our community, the Quad Cities has access to some of our nation's most treasured patriotic events and ceremonies.
On Friday, June 15 the Quad Cities community will host an Army Ball to celebrate the 243rd birthday of our nation's military, and the men and women who serve. Chamber members, business and community leaders are invited to spend the evening in pomp and circumstance paying tribute to the Army. The Quad Cities Chamber is a proud partner of this event.
The event rich in tradition includes a receiving line, traditional toasts to the Army and others, a traditional Army flag streamer ceremony, and a ceremony honoring missing and fallen Soldiers. The keynote speaker of this year’s Army Ball is Patrick Murphy, Former Under Secretary of the Army and Chief Management Officer. In this position, Murphy led the management and operation of the Army focusing on dynamic and efficient business operations, transforming the Army to be more innovative and responsive, expanding the Soldier for Life initiative, public-private partnerships, and aggressively utilizing social media to tell the Army story to new audiences in a more compelling way. He is also a former television anchor and contributor to NBC Universal, and executive producer for MSNBC's "Taking the Hill." Mr. Murphy also served as the first Iraq War Veteran elected to the U.S. Congress.
The Rock Island Arsenal is an integral part of the Quad Cities' community and economy, and with events like the Army Ball, Change of Command ceremonies, and others, there are many ways to become engaged in and support the local defense community. Register to attend the Army Ball>>
