The QC Empowerment Network is wrapping up Black History month with the third annual Black Business Expo & Summit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 24, at the Davenport RiverCenter.
The Expo is the only event in the region that is designed to specifically highlight black-owned businesses and showcase the rich diversity of the area’s small business community. This year’s theme of “Build It,” the Black Business Expo will showcase and celebrate local black-owned businesses and applicable entrepreneurial services and resources. Last year’s event included more than 50 vendors and hundreds of attendees.
Both the Summit and Expo are open to the public at no cost. The Summit portion of the event will include break-out sessions designed to assist current and future business owners with their entrepreneurial efforts. It also will include a key note address from Dr. Randal D. Pinkett, Chairman and CEO of BCT Partners.
The Expo portion of the event is from 1-4 p.m. and also is open and free to the public. The Expo will spotlight the Quad Cities’ black business and entrepreneur community. In addition to dozens of vendors, the Expo also will include local small business resources and a youth entrepreneurship pitch competition in the style of the hit television show Shark Tank that will be judged by local business leaders.
