From interns to residents and young professionals, the Quad Cities Chamber, through our divisions Moline Centre, Young Professionals of the Quad Cities (YPQC) and Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP), is playing a key role in making our region a place where talent wants to land. Last Thursday we hosted three concurrent events that drew well over 1,000 people to enjoy quality of life amenities in the area.
Moline Centre Summer Concert Series: Live Music Along the Mississippi Riverfront
As the summer weather continues to heat up, the crowd at Bass Street Landing every Thursday for the Moline Centre Summer Concert Series continues to grow. An event that has become a staple for downtown Moline and a frequented “to-do” on the list for Quad Citizens features the Quad Cities growing music scene.
Local talent plays for crowds that often reach above 1,000 and businesses set up on the plaza to serve food, beverage and treats. This family event is a great way to spend a Thursday evening and support local businesses. Check out the rest of the lineup>
InternQC: Showing Off Our Community
Hundreds of interns were able to experience one of our region’s greatest assets, the Mississippi River by taking a cruise on the Celebration Belle. The InternQC program is designed to help young talent build valuable friendships and connections, provide access to professional development resources and make a lasting impression so that the Quad Cities is top of mind for young professionals come graduation time.
The interns enrolled in the program will have access to all YP programming throughout the summer as well as additional events that showcase the region. The next event happens on Thursday, June 22, Modern Woodmen Park will host a night out at the ballpark for the interns as the River Bandits take on the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
Third Thursday: Promoting Downtown
Third Thursday is a special monthly self-guided tour of downtown Davenport’s growing shopping and entertainment scene. Chamber members are among the many businesses helping to drive traffic downtown, with this month’s Third Thursday events including Oh So Sweet celebrating their 3rd birthday, Me & Billy hosting a pairing of Martini’s and Macarons, Barrel House offering ½ priced deals and CraftedQC celebrating all things cats, donating a portion of the nights proceeds to the QC Animal Welfare Center.
Each month, you can come down on Third Thursday to discover the many unique and locally owned shops during this featured event from 5 – 9pm and take advantage of exclusive Third Thursday specials being offered by participating businesses. As you peruse the local shops, enhance your downtown experience by grabbing a bite to eat and sharing a drink with friends at one of our local bars, restaurants and breweries. Or take time to enjoy one of our many art galleries, studios, or museums.
