Davenport Mayor Frank Klipsch and the City Council are pleased to announce that Sterilite Corporation of Townsend, Massachusetts is considering the construction of a new state of the art manufacturing and distribution center in Davenport contingent upon approval of State of Iowa and local incentives.
The facility will be approximately 2.5 million square feet making it the largest single building in Davenport. The project will generate 500 new jobs within five years of the plant becoming operational and will be located adjacent to the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center on 160 acres. The land and building cost is estimated to be $73 million.
The success of this project is possible with the support of great economic development partners including: State of Iowa, Eastern Iowa Community College, Greater Davenport Redevelopment Group, Quad Cities First, Scott County, MidAmerican Energy and Iowa American Water.
The City of Davenport will consider a resolution of preliminary support at the January 4, 2017 Committee-of-the-Whole meeting in order to support this project and their application to the State of Iowa for financial assistance.
Sterilite Corporation is the largest plastics housewares company in North America and has been in operation for over 75 years. Made in the USA, they have locations in Massachusetts, Alabama, Arizona, Ohio, South Carolina and Texas. The Davenport facility will be their seventh location.
