Area cybersecurity conference offers discount to Hub registrants

Cyber crime damage costs are predicted to hit $6 trillion annually by 2021.  Hackers are targeting U.S. factories for shutdown.  How do you know if your company is safe?  You begin by attending CornCon IV: The Quad Cities Cybersecurity Conference & Kids’ Hacker Camp on Sept. 7 and 8 at St. Ambrose University’s Rogalski Center in Davenport.  Organizers have now offered those engaged with the Hub a 30% registration discount to the event that includes a professional development workshop (with CEUs!), full-day security conference and its Children of the CornCon Kids’ Hacker Camp.

Cost for the Friday professional development workshop  is $100 with 7 CPE credits, while the Saturday security conference by itself is $50.  Attendees may package both for only $135 before discount. Enjoy dynamic keynotes, expert speakers and panel discussions along with contests and prizes, a hacker village, networking and door prizes.

The Children of The CornCon Kids’ Hacker Camp on Saturday, Sept. 8, includes a full day of topics related to the ethics of making and breaking, a coding project, electronics, privacy, election hacking, and lock-picking.  Registration for the camp is $25 and includes door prizes, a t-shirt and lunch.  A guardian must attend with the child but at no cost.

The Quad Cities Manufacturing Innovation Hub has identified cybersecurity as one of the eight technologies having a significant on the manufacturing and defense industries and their supply chain.  As such, the Hub is working with a team of subject matter experts to develop strategy to help prepare our region.
