As the Baby Boomer generation retires from the workplace, developing the next generation of female leaders is crucial to the future of many businesses and industries. The Iowa Women Lead Change Quad Cities (IWLC QC) conference on March 29, 2018 will bring together a group of nationally recognized speakers to share wisdom and expertise on a wide range of personal and professional development topics.
Headlining keynote speaker, Tamron Hall is an award-winning journalist, who has been the host of “Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall” on Investigation Discovery and was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2011 for her work on NBC News’ “Education Nation: Teacher Town Hall.” Further, she served as a correspondent on the Emmy Award –winning NBC News special, “The Inauguration of Barack Obama.” Ms. Hall is involved with several charitable organizations, most recently launching the Tamron Renate Fund with Safe Horizon in honor of her sister to help victims and families affected by domestic violence.
In addition to Tamron Hall, Jeanette Walls, a celebrated author best known for her memoir, The Glass Castle will also be featured. Named by Amazon as one of the top 10 books of the decade, The Glass Castle was recently made into a major motion picture depicting Ms. Walls’ life growing up in extreme poverty and the tale of her emergence from it. The conference will also feature Jeffrey Tobias Halter, the country’s leading male expert on advancing women and engaging men. Mr. Halter is the President of YWomen.
“We are excited to expand our presence in the region and offer a dynamic conference as a source of professional development for those dedicated to the advancement of women,” said Deanna Woodall, IWLC Quad Cities Regional Manager. “The IWLC conference is being held in conjunction with the Athena Awards and will recognize the benefits of empowering, inspiring and educating female leaders across the state, and encourage male allies into the conversation.”
The Annual Athena + Male Champion of Change Awards will be presented during a dinner program following the conference. The Athena Awards Event, in affiliation with Athena International, elevates and honors women and men who are setting a gold standard into the business and community leadership, and who are helping to bring along the next generation of women leaders.
