If you managed to find yourself in downtown Davenport over the weekend, you most likely experienced a piece of Alternating Currents. With over a dozen venues and 90+ affiliated events, it was an eccentric amalgamation of music, film, comedy and art.

Prior to the Ben Folds headlining show, Downtown Davenport Partnership Executive Director Kyle Carter addressed the crowd to give a nod to twelve successful years of River Roots Live and tipped his hat to supporters of new festival model for Alternating Currents.

Carter shared “Things change, things evolve, and I think this is the future of festivals in the Quad Cities. You have to earn the right to be able to do a festival like this, you have to have a community and a downtown that is vibrant enough to host a festival like this and we are there.”

Downtown Davenport Partnership, a division of the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, is a non-profit organization focused on the strategic growth and beautification of historic downtown Davenport. It proudly helps drive Q2030: A Regional Action Plan, to increase talent, jobs and economic opportunity for all. Alternating Currents is a product of DDP that supports Q2030 by producing a signature event for Quad Citizens to celebrate its creative culture.
