After 128 years total and 68 years in Iowa, Alcoa today announced the completion of separating companies and the official beginning of a new chapter here in the Quad Cities as Arconic. Rob Woodall, Arconic Manufacturing Director, Ken Giacobbe, Chief Financial Officer, and U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley celebrated the milestone with a ribbon cutting alongside business leaders, local elected officials and Quad Cities Chamber Ambassadors.
While Alcoa will stay true to company roots and remain a producer of commodities, Arconic in the Quad Cities exemplifies the company's accomplished work as a market leader in growth markets, transforming the way we fly, drive, build and power. Giacobbe highlighted aerospace as the company's largest market, driving 41% of their 2015 revenue and noted that their technology is being used on virtually every aircraft platform flying today.
Davenport Works has also played an important role in the automotive industry, leading the way in lightweighting, redefining passenger vehicles, including the Ford F-150. Congratulations to Arconic!
