The New Partnership Will Create the Largest Architectural and Engineering Firm in the Quad Cities Area
The Missman Group, holding company of the civil and structural engineering firm Missman, Inc., announces its partnership with a newly formed architectural firm. Architectural firms, Gere/Dismer Architects and Scholtz Gowey Gere Marolf Architects & Interior Designers, have merged to become the premier architecture, planning, and design firm Studio 483 Architecture. The new collaboration creates the largest firm, based in the Quad Cities, to offer comprehensive land development, planning, and architectural design.
The three companies, Missman, Gere/Dismer, and SGGM trace their roots in the Quad Cities back to 1946, 1957, and 1871 respectively. The combined forces will serve a client base including municipal, health care, educational, commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.
"This is an opportunity to grow something the Quad Cities does not yet offer at a larger scale. It’s the same people and the same quality service, with exceptional expertise, all working in a collaborative approach to satisfy the client’s needs.” said Patrick Eikenberry, President/CEO of Missman Group.
The firm’s principals sought to choose a name for the new company that reflects its Mississippi Valley heritage. Studio 483was chosen due to the Mississippi River mile marker where the architectural offices are currently located in downtown Rock Island, Illinois and downtown Davenport, Iowa locations.
"Our firms have always provided thoughtful design and unparalleled client service. Now, with combined resources and talent, Studio 483 will be better able to help clients realize what’s possible.” stated Perry W. Gere, President, Studio 483 Architecture. "We’ll continue our commitment to both design and client service excellence in all of our projects.”
"Both of our previous firms have taken great pride in acting as stewards of the built environment,” said Greg Gowey, principal of Studio 483 Architecture. "We believe that good design is good business, and our new firm brings together our complementary strengths to create well-designed, functional, and economical projects.”
The partnership follows the Missman Group’s other recent expansion efforts. In 2012, the company acquired American Testing and Engineering, LLC, a geotechnical and material testing company in Davenport, Iowa. In 2014, the company opened their new 16,800-sq. ft. corporate headquarters in Rock Island’s recently developed Black Hawk Commons Business Park.
