Tess Harriss Designs creates hand-crafted one of a kind shoes out of her home, and on Saturday, she took home the top prize of $5,000 from the Quad Cities Fast Pitch competition. Over 40 people submitted ideas to the contest aimed at providing support to entrepreneurs. Of the 40 submissions, 20 were selected to pitch to a panel of judges. Additional winners included Oh So Sweet Bakery, featuring homemade and preservative free baked goods, an engineer who created an app that would allow users to reserve restaurant seats, and Trosen Pneumatic Systems for engineering a new spot-cooling system using compressed air. Fast Pitch was a joint effort between the economic development departments of Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, and Moline, and partners including the Quad Cities Chamber and Ignite Quad Cities.
