Nominations are now being accepted for the 2015 ATHENA Awards®, scheduled for March 12, 2015, noon, at Jumer’s Casino & Hotel, Rock Island. Presented in affiliation with Athena International by the Women’s Connection and the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, the awards will honor outstanding women leaders in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. Missman, Inc. is the title sponsor of the 2015 ATHENA Awards, with additional sponsorship from DHCU Community Credit Union, Quad City International Airport, Quad-City Times, River City Tire and Senior Star at Elmore Place. Deadline for nominations is January 19, 2015.
Honorees for the 2015 ATHENA Awards will be selected based on the following criteria:
·Nominee is a leader in business or her profession
·Nominee serves as a role model to other women in her profession and community
·Nominee displays creativity and innovation, and contributes these talents to the growth of her profession
·Nominee contributes time and energy to community betterment
Again this year, during the event, the Male Champion of Change Award will be presented to a regional man who exhibits exceptional commitment to the acceleration of women in leadership, and who utilizes his influence, talents and abilities to enhance gender diversity.
The mission of Athena International is "to support, develop and honor women leaders; to inspire women to achieve their full potential; and to create balance in leadership worldwide.” The mission of the ATHENA Award program is to elevate and honor those women who are setting a gold standard in their business and community leadership, and who are helping to bring along the next generation of women leaders.
Since 1982, 6,000 ATHENA Awards and Global ATHENA Leadership Awards have been presented by Athena International in more than 500 communities in the United States, Canada, Russia, China, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
