The Quad Cities is home to the Rock Island Arsenal - a joint base serving as the home of U.S. Army logistics, manufacturing, training, and engineering. In addition to multiple support commands, four Army command headquarters are located on Rock Island Arsenal. They are: Army Sustainment Command, First Army, Joint Munitions Command, and Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center. The Rock Island Arsenal is the region’s largest employer, with over 6,500 employees and an average salary of over $74,000. The annual economic impact of the Rock Island Arsenal on the Quad Cities region is well over $1.5 billion annually.
In addition to our efforts to lead and implement a strategy successfully positioning the Quad Cities and the Rock Island Arsenal as a thriving Department of Defense asset, the Quad Cities Chamber also is actively engaged in supporting active duty military, veterans and their families. The Chamber’s Military Affairs Council works to ensure there is connectivity and synergy between the Rock Island Arsenal, active duty military and their families, and veterans and their families and the larger Quad Cities community. They also ensure the viability of Hooah Quad Cities, an awareness and appreciation initiative promoting the importance of the military community. The Quad Cities was proud to have been named a Top 50 Military-Friendly Community by G.I. Jobs Magazine.
