  • Create a manufacturing vision that leverages technologies to mitigate threats and take advantage of opportunities
  • Use the vision to guide our training, education, and investment

State of Illinois Defense Industry Adjustment (DIA) Program

The University of Illinois was awarded a $5.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to support economic revitalization in Illinois communities affected by reductions in federal military spending. The Quad Cities Chamber has partnered with the University of Illinois to develop the pilot program which will accelerate local defense activities. The Quad Cities is one of five participating communities, with the others being Rockford, Peoria, Metro East and Greater Peoria. 

This program will take place in three phases:

Collect data: 

  • Comprehensive mapping of the state's defense assets and defense/manufacturing industry supply chains
  • Integration of new insights with existing reports, data sets and technology roadmaps

Data to Insights:

  • Capacity building and technical assistance including data review, analysis and interpretation, community engagement, knowledge sharing and strategic planning

Respond:

  • The pilot program hosted in the Quad Cities will accelerate local defense adjustment activities
